Peer Tutoring

Peer tutoring, offered through the Student Counselling Department, helps UB students better understand course content and develop strong study habits. It also promotes effective independent learning in pursuit of students’ academic goals.

When and where is tutoring available?
Oakes Field Campus
A full complement of tutors is employed in the fall and spring semesters, Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.  Tutoring for select courses is available on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Peer tutoring sessions are held primarily in the large study rooms on the 1st floor of the Harry C. Moore Library and Information Centre; however, all Math tutoring sessions are offered in the Math Lab, Room A-84, Keva M. Bethel Building.

Peer tutors are available during the fall and spring semesters. Tutoring sessions are held primarily in the Language Lab and in rooms 105 and 106 when classes are not in session.

Who can apply to receive tutoring?
All students who are currently enrolled at UB are eligible for free tutoring services.

Schedule a tutoring session
Oakes Field and Grosvenor Close Campus students may schedule a tutoring session by following the instructions at http://booknow.appointment-plus.com/7scblr4x/. Students are eligible for two hours of tutoring each week.

Who can apply to be a tutor?
Students who are currently enrolled and who have completed at least 2 semesters at UB, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 and a minimum grade of B+ in the subject they wish to tutor may apply to become a tutor. Applicants are required to provide references from lecturers in the subject/course they wish to tutor. Tutors are paid $5.00 per hour with a minimum of 8 hours per week required and a maximum of 20 hours per week.
