As an alumnus of the College of The Bahamas, it is humbling to be the Vice President of Institutional Advancement and Alumni Affairs at the newly chartered University of The Bahamas! In this portfolio, I oversee the departments of University Relations, Development and Alumni Relations. I work closely with the President to help cultivate relationships with major philanthropists with the aim of building the legacy of this national institution.  Hence, our students are front and center in our commitment to excellence as well as opportunity.  As we cultivate, we seek two types of donors:  those who want to improve our infrastructure and, more importantly, those who want to assist our students and in doing so, become nation builders.

Our alumni represent both types of donors.  In fact, our alumni represent the essence of our community. We have a network of over 5,000, we are working diligently on increasing our membership.  We have alumni who give back and for that, we are grateful.  We have alumni whose children and grandchildren attend this institution and for that, we are grateful.  When an alumnus invests in their own institution, it sends a clear and resounding message that they believe in the process and the product. We are honoured that we have a vibrant Alumni Association and that we have alumni who care about their alma mater.

We also salute our donors and are truly appreciative of their contribution.  We know they recognize that this University is the number one tertiary-level institution in The Bahamas.  We know they accept that we have a strong academic curriculum that is second to none.  If you have not already done so, I invite you to become a donor by investing in the University of The Bahamas. In so doing, you will encourage others to become a donor and provide much need support to our deserving students.  Give to help a student complete their last semester.  Give to help a student start their first semester. Give to help a student believe in possibilities. Give to improve our technology. Give to improve our infrastructure.  Give because it’s the best way to help someone on their journey. You can simply give just because…

We invite you to take a tour of our campuses. I assure you that you will not be disappointed as you explore the numerous avenues of giving. We also invite you to speak with our students. They will help you understand why it is so important to give.
