Government awards are one of the ways eligible UB students receive financial assistance to help fund their education.
Ministry of Education National Award and Bursary
Awards are offered to eligible students who plan to attend or who are attending the U B. Applicants must be Bahamian citizens; possess a minimum of 5 BGCSE passes, including Math and English, with ‘C’ grades or above or a UB grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 or above. Applicants must not be in possession of another award/scholarship at the time of application.
To remain eligible, students must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.00 each semester; pursue a minimum of 15 credits each semester; submit their UB transcript and course selection form [link to form] to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology’s Tertiary Section each semester; must not be in possession of any other scholarship; and must inform the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of any change(s) while attending UB.
The National Bursary Award will pay tuition, lab and other fees to the University on behalf of successful applicants up to a maximum of $5,000 per academic year.

Ministry of Education Teacher Education Grant
Teacher Education Grants are offered to eligible students who plan to enrol or who are enrolled in a teacher education programme at the University. Applicants must be full-time Bahamian students; must possess a minimum of 5 BGCSE passes, including Math and English, with ‘C’ grades or above or a 3.00 grade point average (GPA). Applicants must not be in possession of another award which covers tuition. The grant covers tuition and fees; students are also given a stipend.
To remain eligible, students must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.00 per semester; pursue a minimum of 15 credits hours per semester; submit their UB transcript and course selection form to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology each semester; and inform the Ministry of any change(s) while attending UB.

Ministry of Health Nursing Education Grant
The Nursing Education Grant is available to eligible students who plan to enrol or are enrolled in a nursing programme at UB. Students must be enrolled full-time, taking at least 15 credits in pursuit of a bachelor of nursing degree. The grant covers tuition and fees related to the programme; students are also given a stipend.
To remain eligible, students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 per semester and pursue a minimum of 15 credit hours per semester.
