Dr. Linda A. Davis

Provost

 

dr-linda-davis-provost-academics-homepage-maintab-2Dr. Linda A. Davis has the distinction of serving as the first Provost of University of The Bahamas. Dr. Davis has served in various senior administrative positions throughout her extensive career in higher education. She is a former Dean of International Programs and Partnerships at Wheelock College in Boston, Massachusetts, and a former Vice President of Academic Affairs and Vice President of Research, Graduate Programmes and International Relations at the College of The Bahamas. Dr. Davis has also served in various capacities such as Consultant, Quality Assurance Unit and the Curriculum Division, Ministry of Education & Youth; Consultant, Government of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas/Inter-American Development Bank Education Program 848/OCBH, Ministry of Education & Youth; Ministry of Health Working Committee appointed by the Minster of Health to advance recommendations on the development of a policy on the establishment of off-shore/non-traditional medical schools in The Bahamas; and the Ministry of Education Working Committee appointed by the Minister of Education to formalise a proposal and implementation plan for the establishment of a Quality Assurance Unit.

Dr. Davis has worked within and across cultural contexts to facilitate higher education partnerships with institutions in North America, the Caribbean, United Kingdom, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. As Provost, Dr. Davis is committed to ensuring that University of The Bahamas students exit with skills that best prepare them to embrace the 21st century. She remains resolute that UB programmes and experiences must nurture and encourage innovative thinking and critical mind-sets which result in graduates able to solve the most pressing challenges of today, nationally, regionally and internationally. Dr. Davis also is committed to advancing, even more deliberately, toward a grounded research tradition to balance the institution’s already strong teaching and service reputations.

Dr. Davis completed her undergraduate degree at the College of St. Benedict, St. Joseph, Minnesota, her master’s degree at University of Ottawa, Ottawa, Canada, and her doctoral degree at University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. She has also completed the Executive Training Program in Professional Education at the Harvard Institute for Educational Management.
