University of The Bahamas Honouring Alumni Leaders and Trailblazers at Awards Ceremony

4th February 2026

Nassau, THE BAHAMAS – From families who believed deeply in education and quiet communities where hard work and sacrifice were daily lessons, to boardrooms, classrooms, health care facilities and news organizations across the nation and beyond, the latest cadre of University of The Bahamas (UB) outstanding alumni embody excellence and successes that fuel national development.

On Saturday 7th February UB will celebrate eight distinguished alumni at its Outstanding Alumni Awards at the Oakes Field Campus. The ceremony is supported by Deloitte Bahamas, the platinum sponsor, and Summit Insurance, the bronze sponsor.

This year’s highest alumni distinction will be awarded to Chief Executive Officer of Summit Insurance Company, and chartered insurer, Mr. Timothy Ingraham, who will receive the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. Class of 1995 alumni, educator and consultant, Dr Janice Marshall-Roberts, and General Manager of the Broadcasting Corporation of The Bahamas, Mr. Clint Watson, will be honoured with the Outstanding Alumni Awards. Class of 2005 alumni, higher education professional and scholar, Dr. Cheyanne Harvey; environmental scientist and Associate Principal with BRON Ltd., Ms. Agnessa Lundy; and nurse, midwife and educator, Mrs. Sarika Rolle, will be honoured with the Trailblazer Awards, while Class of 2015 alumni, Fintech professional and coach, Mrs Sonovia Bastian, and educator and trade unionist, Mr. Ernesto Williams, will receive the Emerging Leader Awards.

For Mr. Ingraham, whose journey began in Tarpum Bay, Eleuthera, the foundation laid at the former College of The Bahamas was pivotal. He stressed the urgency of leadership and national progress.

“We need leaders. The country’s not going to move forward unless we have good quality leaders,” he said. “And I think UB produces excellent quality graduates. And I think those excellent quality graduates who grew up in our country, grew up in this economy, are very well placed to take on leadership roles in various organizations throughout our economy.”

As a nurse, Mrs. Rolle has spent two decades serving communities across the country exemplifying quiet sacrifice. She says as a student at UB, she thrived on the support she received from faculty in the nursing programme.

“Some days you wanted to quit, but they kept you going,” she shares. “They kept encouraging you. They would show you the light at the end of the tunnel. They made you feel like it’s a rewarding profession.”

Another distinguished honouree, Dr. Harvey, has dedicated her career to guiding students through the doors of opportunity.

“This award signifies that my hard work, my commitment, and my dedication to service is finally being recognized, not just within the university community, but also within the wider community. I’ll continue to do that which God has purposed for me to do,” she says.

Mr. Watson said he was humbled to his alma mater selected him as an awardee.

“It reminds you that there are people watching you, watching what you’ve achieved, watching where you’re going, the foundation that you’ve built and what impact are you making,” he shares. “There was always a high standard [at UB]. UB students always performed well wherever they went. I carried that with me. I’m a graduate of the College of The Bahamas, the University of The Bahamas. That means I have something to offer.”

UB has an alumni community of more than 24,000. Approximately 100 of them have been honoured as distinguished alumni, a tradition that will continue as the university heralds the breadth of successes among its graduates.

“Here at UB we are all about traditions and are extremely proud to be able to continue this rich tradition of honouring our alumni who have distinguished themselves in their chosen professions or in their individual communities,” says Director of Alumni Services Mr. Elvardo Thompson. “On behalf of University of The Bahamas and its Alumni Association I would like to congratulate all of this year’s awardees for doing just that.”
