30th June 2026

University of The Bahamas announces the appointment of Mr. Dion Gibson as Vice President, Technology Services, effective 1st July 2026.

Mr. Gibson assumes a critical leadership role as technology increasingly drives university operations, from student success and academic delivery to research infrastructure and administrative operations. As VP Technology Services, he will set the strategic direction for the University’s technology systems as institutional needs evolve. This includes oversight for cybersecurity, external technology partnerships, and executive leadership for the Office of Technology Services.

Mr. Gibson brings more than 25 years of operational and leadership experience across information technology, with careers in financial services, utilities, and higher education that span enterprise operations, cybersecurity, infrastructure management, systems development, and large-scale digital transformation.

Most recently, Mr. Gibson served as Chief Information Officer at the Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute (BTVI). There, he drove improvements across IT operations, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and digital learning platforms. Prior to BTVI he held an Operations Manager Consultant role at Gibson & Associates Law Firm, with oversight for organizational operations, human resources, IT services, and strategic project delivery. He also served as Manager of Development and Operations at Colina Insurance Company, driving the development of enterprise applications and software deployment across the organization.

Mr. Gibson spent more than two decades at Bahamas Electricity Corporation (now Bahamas Power and Light), where he steadily advanced through technology leadership positions and led major initiatives across systems migration, disaster recovery, online customer services, and infrastructure modernization. Before that, he built his early professional foundation at JPMorgan Guaranty Trust Company on Wall Street. During that time, he worked across financial technology operations and audit engagements.

Mr. Gibson holds a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degree (minor in Economics), Summa Cum Laude, in Information Technology from Pace University, as well as an Associate of Arts degree in Computer Data Processing from the College of The Bahamas. He also has advanced professional training in cybersecurity, networking, project management, systems administration, business analysis, and IT governance.
