Suspension of Operations Due to Sub-Tropical Storm Nicole

The Bahamas Department of Meteorology has advised that a hurricane warning is now in effect for the islands of Grand Bahama, Bimini and the Berry Islands as a result of Sub-Tropical Storm Nicole, while a tropical storm warning is in effect for Eleuthera, New Providence and Andros. Out of an abundance of caution and heightened vigilance, University of The Bahamas (UB) will suspend operations and cancel classes and all events as follows:-
Oakes Field Campus – New Providence
All classes are cancelled effective Tuesday 8th November to Wednesday 9thNovember 2022. However, all employees are to report to work on Tuesday 8th November to secure their offices and equipment. Operations will be suspended as of noon on Tuesday and the University will remain closed on Wednesday 9th November 2022 including the Chapter One bookstore and the Harry C. Moore Library and Information Centre. Essential personnel will receive further instructions from their immediate supervisors. A communication regarding the resumption of operations at the Oakes Field Campus in New Providence will be issued after the passage of the storm.
University of The Bahamas-North – Grand Bahama
All classes are cancelled effective Tuesday 8th November to Thursday 10thNovember 2022. However, essential personnel are to report for duty on Tuesday 8th November to secure offices and equipment. A further communication announcing the resumption of operations at UB-North will be made after the passage of the storm.
In preparation for the passage of the storm, all UB employees at all locations are to ensure that:
- All files are backed up (on the designated shared drive, OneDrive, or SharePoint);
- Plastic sheeting is secured from Physical Plant and used to cover equipment; and
- All computer equipment is disconnected from their power sources; elevated and removed from nearby windows.
