Vice President, Technology Services

A veteran technology leader with more than 30 years of service to the University, Mrs. Vernice Williams has extensive expertise in enterprise systems, digital transformation, and IT governance.

Since her appointment as Vice President in 2020, Mrs. Williams has strengthened the University’s digital environment by leading institutional strategy, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and technology services aligned with the institution’s strategic priorities. Under her leadership, policies, standards, and cost-effective innovations have been implemented that support teaching, learning, research, and administration. Central to her work is ongoing assessment of the technology and media needs of academic and administrative units, the identification of emerging technologies, and the delivery of innovative, cost-effective solutions that sustain the University.

Throughout her many roles at UB beginning in 1990, from Computer Operator, to Operations Supervisor, Assistant Director, Director and ultimately VP of Technology Services, she has been a steadfast champion of professional growth and higher learning. She taught computer applications and computer literacy for Continuing Education and Extension Services.

Through her work, administrative processes have become more efficient, student access to online services has improved, and modernized systems have been embedded to support academic and business functions across the University’s campuses and locations. She leads the development and regular review of IT policies, procedures, and standards; ensures fiscal responsibility, accountability, and compliance with all relevant accreditation requirements; and manages and develops Technology Services personnel to maintain efficient, secure, and progressive operations across the institution.

Ms. Williams holds an MSc in Management (Human Resources) from the University of the West Indies and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems and Associate’s degree in Computer Data Processing, both from the former College of The Bahamas.
