Dr. Walteria Tucker-Rolle
Assistant Vice President, Institutional Strengthening and Accreditation
Dr. Tucker-Rolle is an accreditation advisor and policy liaison in the Office of the President, Director of the American Corner in Nassau, and former Chair of the Academic Senate. Her depth of institutional knowledge and principled leadership is vital as UB advances toward national and international accreditation and strengthens a culture of continuous improvement.
In this role, Dr. Tucker-Rolle leads the strategic coordination of the University’s accreditation and quality assurance efforts. She provides key guidance on compliance and professional development, while ensuring that the entire university community remains informed, engaged, and prepared for the opportunities ahead. Her leadership helps position UB for thoughtful growth, meaningful transformation, and enduring academic integrity as it pursues SACSCOC accreditation and broader global partnerships.
Since joining UB in 2013 as an Assistant Professor of Spanish in the School of Communication and Creative Arts, Dr. Tucker-Rolle has distinguished herself as a collaborative academic leader and dedicated educator. She served as Coordinator of the Bachelor of Spanish programme and later as Chair of the School, contributing to curriculum innovation, faculty development, and student success.
Her scholarly preparation reflects the same global perspective she brings to her work. Beyond UB, Dr. Tucker-Rolle contributes to national and international conversations on higher education leadership and civic engagement. She is a member of the Leading for Democracy Curriculum Design Team of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) and serves on AASCU’s American Democracy Project Steering Committee.
Dr. Tucker-Rolle holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Studies: Languages, Literacies and Linguistics and a Master of Arts in Comparative Literature, Latin American and French Caribbean Literatures from Florida Atlantic University. She also earned a certificate in Management Development from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Sciences, concentrating in International Studies, from FAU’s Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College.
