Fall 2022 Semester and COVID-19 Health Protocols

Fall 2022 Semester and COVID-19 Health Protocols

24th August 2022

University of The Bahamas remains committed to fostering a safe environment as the Fall 2022 semester is underway with classes having commenced on Monday 22nd August.

There is increased activity across the University’s campuses in New Providence and Grand Bahama as more in-person classes and co-curricular programmes resume. However, COVID-19 protocols are still in effect to protect the University community and its clients while reducing the risk of exposure.

Please be advised of the following updated protocols:-

1.      As high trafficked areas, classes are being thoroughly cleaned and sanitized several times throughout the day. The cleaning regimen is continuing for restrooms and administrative offices.

2.      The wearing of a facemask is required for indoor spaces.  A mask is not required for outdoor spaces on campus, however persons are expected to maintain the requisite physical distancing.

3.      Faculty, students and staff are encouraged to frequently and properly wash their hands or use the hand sanitizing dispensers placed throughout University campuses and facilities.

4.      The three-foot physical distancing is still being maintained and signage has been mounted in key locations as reminders.

5.      All persons (faculty, staff and students), at any UB location who have tested positive for COVID-19 must report this information to healthservices@ub.edu.bs or telephone: 302-4556/4379. UB employees whose COVID-19 illness prevents them from reporting for duty are deemed to be on sick leave and will be processed accordingly. A negative COVID-19 test is required to return to campus. Students who test positive must present a negative COVID-19 test before returning to class. Classes will not be cancelled.

6.      As a reminder, proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test is not required to access a University campus or facility. However, persons must stop at the designated security checkpoints and submit to the required temperature screening.

We encourage continued vigilance in adherence to these health measures. Faculty, students and staff are urged to continue monitoring all official UB channels for further updates and advisories as the semester progresses.
