Change from Administrative Council to Executive Leadership Team

Change from Administrative Council to Executive Leadership Team

18th July 2023

In order to better serve the University community and to clarify the roles of those in senior leadership positions, the Administrative Council has been restructured as the Executive Leadership Team (ELT).  The Executive Leadership Team includes the President, the Vice-Presidents and Assistant Vice-President Danny Davis, whose presence is made necessary given the strategic focus on matters of quality assurance and institutional strengthening.

Its mandate is to create a forum where senior colleagues across the University can identify problems, offer solutions and assist one another in the execution of their duties.

The Executive Leadership Team is not a governing body of the University and so makes no collective decisions.  Rather, each member of the Executive Leadership Team plays a critical role in his or her sector of activity and offers an important collegial contribution to others, including the President.

Each member has specific authority, in accordance with the University of The Bahamas Act, and/or as a consequence of the administrative structure currently in effect; each has a clear set of responsibilities, and each is clearly accountable for his or her decisions. It is expected that this clarification of the roles of each and of the mandate of the structures we use to get work done will contribute to increasing effective communication across the University.

Supporting one another at all levels, we have the power to shape a brighter future for our students, faculty and staff and for the country at large.
