
Appointment of Retired Assistant Commissioner of Police Solomon Cash as Chief of University Police and Security

Chief of University Police and Security Mr. Solomon Cash.
Nassau, THE BAHAMAS — University of The Bahamas (UB) announces the appointment of the new Chief of University Police and Security, retired Assistant Commissioner of Police Mr. Solomon N. Cash, effective 25th October 2021.
Reporting to the Vice President of Finance and Business Enterprise, Mr. Cash will lead and direct policy development and implementation to improve current control systems for access to and from the grounds and buildings of the University, including satellite properties; prevention of theft and vandalism of University property and equipment; and safety measures for the greater protection of students, faculty and staff. He is also responsible for assessing and responding to campus law enforcement, public safety and security situations and ensuring that adequate surveillance systems covering all UB facilities on New Providence and Grand Bahama are implemented.
Assessing the adequacy of the university’s emergency communications system, ensuring that members of the department are up-to-date with their training, implementing adequate policies and liaising with the Royal Bahamas Police Force are also under the portfolio of the Chief of University Police and Security.
Mr. Cash succeeds Mr. Glenn Miller who has retired.
A veteran law enforcement officer and administrator, Mr. Cash is a Certified Manager who is highly trained in the areas of criminal investigation, scenes of crime, information campaigns for trafficking in persons, forensics and transnational illicit trafficking. Over the years, he has served as Superintendent, Director of the Central Intelligence Bureau and Chief Superintendent with responsibility as Officer-in-Charge of Central Detective Unit on the Royal Bahamas Police Force. In April 2020, he was promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police, with responsibility for Crime Management and Criminal Investigations.
He has also been honoured for meritorious service, long service and good conduct.
