Appointment of Chief of Staff

University of The Bahamas announces the appointment of Dr. Richine Bethell as Chief of Staff in the Office of the President, effective immediately.
In this capacity, Dr. Bethell will serve as a strategic advisor and key partner to the President, supporting the coordination and execution of institutional priorities across the University. She will help align the work of academic and administrative units, monitor major initiatives, and support effective decision-making, accountability and continuous improvement.
Dr. Bethell will also oversee the operations of the Office of the President and support the development, implementation and monitoring of the University’s strategic plan. As she coordinates presidential engagements, she will focus on cultivating relations with internal and external stakeholders, including government, partners, donors and the wider community, while ensuring that major institutional events and high-level engagements are professionally executed.
Dr. Bethell brings more than a decade of progressive experience in educational leadership, institutional development and people management. She has served in senior leadership positions, including Principal and Academic Dean for the Bahamas Region at New Covenant University, where she strengthened organisational systems, developed high-performing teams and advanced initiatives focused on institutional effectiveness.
She holds a Doctor of Education and a master’s degree in Leadership and Organisational Management. Her leadership is grounded in strategic thinking, clarity, accountability, collaboration and purposeful execution, with a strong commitment to developing people and strengthening organisations.
