Mrs. Shandy Smith, Interim Chief of Staff
University of The Bahamas is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Shandy Smith as Interim Chief of Staff, effective immediately.
Reporting to the President, Mrs. Smith will provide comprehensive, executive-level support to ensure the overall efficiency of the President’s Office. She will prepare speeches as required and ensure that key constituents are kept informed of matters requiring their immediate attention as directed by the President. As the Interim Chief of Staff, Mrs. Smith serves as the gatekeeper for the Office of The President, overseeing the execution of high-level administrative goals and facilitating effective information-sharing to advance the priorities of the office.
Mrs. Smith has served in a range of administrative capacities over the last two decades, having worked in the private sector for seven years before joining the then College of The Bahamas (COB) in November 2004. She has held various positions in the Human Resources Department including Assistant Director/HR Generalist. In 2018, she was appointed Executive Assistant to the President and has served as Acting Chief of Staff. She has also provided representation on several university-wide committees.
Mrs. Smith is a former Executive Board member of the International Association for Administrative Professionals (IAAP), a position she held for four years. She has also been a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Bahamas Chapter, for three years.
Mrs. Smith earned a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree from the University of Central Florida, Orlando, USA and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Organization & Human Resources Management from Omega College, Nassau, The Bahamas.
