New Appointees and Newly Elected Vice-Chair of the University of The Bahamas Board of Trustees

Two eminently qualified business leaders have been appointed the newest trustees of the University of The Bahamas (UB) Board of Trustees (BOT) which has also selected a new deputy leader of the governance body.

Trustee Gadville McDonald has been elected Vice-Chair of the board, headed by Chair Allyson Maynard-Gibson KC.  Serving as the board’s newest members are Chair of the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers Confederation (BCCEC) Mrs. Khrystle L. Rutherford-Ferguson and a Managing Principal of BRON Ltd. Mr. Kevin Sweeting.

Mr. McDonald is the Chairman of The Global Leadership Summit Bahamas, part of the Global Leadership Network which trains more than 400,000 leaders yearly in 135 countries. He is the Lead Pastor of Life Empowerment Church, and the CEO of Iogad Company ltd. Mr. McDonald is a UB alumnus, former banker and immediate past Executive Director of The National Training Agency (NTA).

An attorney-at-law with extensive experience in banking and corporate and board governance, Mrs. Rutherford-Ferguson is also the first woman Chair of the BCCEC and a UB alumna. BCCEC is an indispensable partner and stakeholder in driving national development.

Mr. Sweeting is a civil engineer and a Managing Principal of BRON Ltd., touted as one the largest consultancy firms in the English-speaking Caribbean. He is also a graduate of UB. BRON provides a range of architecture, engineering and environmental services.

Through rigorous governance, UB’s board ensures that the institution works to meet its mission to support and drive national development and fuels success in higher education. It also has responsibility for the general direction and control of the affairs of UB in accordance with the UB Act, 2016.

Other UB board trustees represent faculty, staff, students, alumni, business, civil society and the scientific communities as well as President Dr. Erik Rolland who serves as an ex-officio member. They include: Dr. Keith Russell; Ms. Alexandra Hall; Mrs. Jazmine Romer-Rolle (Ex Officio); Dr. Joseph Ferguson; Mr. Brian Jones; Ms. Kristie Powell; Mr. Melvert Clarke; Ms. Shapreka Clarke; Mr. Marcus Laing; Mr. D’Arcy Rahming; Mr. Barry Rassin; Mr. Henry St. George; Ms. Janyne Hodder; Ms. Koren Debra Ann Williams; Dr. Indira Martin; and Mr. Sonless Dorian Martin Jr.
