Glennett Fowler to Deliver 2021 Commencement Address to UB-North Grads

28th May 2021

At a time of intense disruption balanced against emerging opportunities, new university grads will have to use their imagination and intellect to forge ahead and thrive.

President and CEO of FOWLCO Ltd. Glennett Fowler will share the lessons she has learnt about adapting and succeeding in a dynamic world when she delivers the Commencement address to the 2021 graduates of University of The Bahamas-North on 1st June. Mrs. Fowler will address the theme, “Unleashing our Creativity: The Key to a Sustainable Future”.

The grads of UB-North have had to be particularly resilient. Hurricane Dorian severely damaged their campus in 2019 and they were relocated to temporary accommodations in Freeport. The COVID-19 pandemic brought an accelerated pivot to remote learning. The members of the 2021 Commencement Class have completed their academic requirements despite the challenges they faced in an era of new norms.

Mrs. Fowler has also defied the odds to overcome boundaries and drive innovation. As the head of Fowlco Limited, a leading marine and logistics management company in The Bahamas, Mrs. Fowler’s contributions to the movement of goods and services throughout the country and around the world have earned her national recognition. A visionary leader, she designed and developed SailMate, a proprietary software to modernize and enhance the customer’s import export experience.

In 2019, The Bahamas Professional Business Services honoured her as one of the 40 Bahamians under 40 for making significant contributions towards a better Bahamas.

Mrs. Fowler is the founding president of the National Import Export Association of The Bahamas and the membership director for the Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce. She also serves on the board of directors of Innovative Green Systems, a US-based organization that develops and manufactures products for a cleaner, carbon neutral world.
