Appointment of Interim Director of the Honours Programme

Mrs. Lottis Shearer-Knowles
University of The Bahamas (UB) announces the appointment of Associate Professor Mrs. Lottis Shearer-Knowles as the Interim Director of the Honours Programme, effective 1st November 2019.
A veteran member of faculty and the former Interim Dean of Liberal and Fine Arts, Mrs Shearer-Knowles will work collaboratively and in consultation with faculty to develop, support, and maintain the overall design of an innovative, and creative curriculum for the Honours Programme and its learning goals, as well as the individual components of that curriculum. She will also coordinate student advisement for the programme in conjunction with academic units, conduct assessments to evaluate success in the achievement of goals and coordinate faculty and staff resources to ensure strong partnerships and collaborative relationships in support of high-achieving students.
The Interim Director of the Honours Programme will work across university areas including Academic Affairs, Institutional Advancement, and Administrative Services to engage faculty and staff in a broad range of activities to support student success. This will require maintaining positive and proactive relationships to ensure process efficiencies and compliance with polices and protocols. This will all be guided by international best practices.
Mrs. Shearer-Knowles initiated her employment with the institution in 1993 as a lecturer in Journalism and Communication. Since then, she has served in many capacities including Head of the Journalism and Communication Department, Director of the Honours and President’s Scholars programmes, Director of Student Leadership Programmes, Chair of several university-wide committees, and Chair of Communication and Creative Arts.
She has a Master’s Degree in Communication and a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism.
