University of The Bahamas (UB) announces the appointment of Mrs. Kandice Eldon as Director of Communications in the Office of University Relations.

In this capacity, Mrs. Eldon has a dedicated focus on managing internal and external communications, marketing and public relations platforms at the University. She will plan and coordinate University publications, collaterals and online content including newsletters, reports, collaterals and supplements.  Additionally, she will serve as the key liaison for external media outlets building media contacts and relationships. She will plan and implement overall marketing direction for UB’s profit-generating centres, programmes and initiatives in collaboration with administrators and department leaders.

The former Assistant Director of Campus Communications, Mrs. Eldon earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications and Spanish (Magna Cum Laude) from Campbell University. She launched her career at the leading ABC news affiliate in Atlanta, Georgia (WSB-TV) as a Special News Researcher for an Emmy Award-winning investigative reporter. Furthering her career pursuits, Mrs. Eldon became a television reporter and producer for a local government station and provided public relations strategies for the Chief Executive Officer and Chief of Police of Dekalb County, Atlanta, Georgia.  Her role in government expanded when she became a certified customer service trainer for the State of Georgia and Public Information Officer at Georgia Emergency Management Agency under former Governor, Sonny Perdue. She has also acted as Director in the Office of Communication at the College of The Bahamas.

As the UBFIT Organizing Chair, Mrs. Eldon and her team have successfully raised more than $90,000 over two years through corporate sponsorship, race registration and in-kind donations to augment the University’s Annual Fund and enhance special needs mobility on UB’s campuses.

She has been accepted into Barry University’s Master’s degree in Human Resource Development programme for Fall 2018.
