Appointment of Dean of Students

University of The Bahamas (UB) announces the appointment of Mr. Joe W. Stubbs as Dean of Students (Chief Student Affairs Officer).  In this capacity, Mr. Stubbs has primary responsibility for creating and maintaining a safe, healthy, and supportive environment and culture that blends the intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual development of students. He will provide operational direction and coordination for Health Services, Residence Life & Housing, Campus Life, Intramural & Recreation, Student Leadership & International Relations, Disability & Psychological Services, University Chaplin and the Wellness Centre.

Mr. Stubbs has served the UB community as Director of Student Leadership & International Relations and in this capacity created the Miss University of The Bahamas Scholarship Pageant, developed over 18 partnerships with professional organizations and fundraised over $37,000 for the Department of Student Leadership while hosting thirty plus leadership programmes which reached more than 3,000 students.

Mr. Stubbs brings 15 years of professional student affairs experience with international work experience at Culver-Stockton College, Nova Southeastern University, Florida International University, and Saint Leo University.

Mr. Stubbs holds a Master of Science Degree in College Student Affairs with a concentration in Conflict Resolution and Analysis from Nova Southeastern University, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sports Management from Saint Leo University. Mr. Stubbs professional memberships include: Association of Fraternity Advisors (AFA), American College Personnel Association (ACPA), Fraternal Values Society (FVS), National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) and National Association of Campus Activities (NACA). He is a certified mediator and basic fire fighter with Canton Missouri Fire Department. Additionally, as a certified child safeguarding officer he provided support for the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games and 2018 Carifta Games. Mr. Stubbs is also an active member of the Bahamas Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
