Department of Student Conduct and Complaints

Purpose: The Department of Student Conduct and Complaints facilitates the process by which students (and other members of the University community) may formally report complaints. The department oversees the complaints process through a disciplinary process that may or may not include the University Conduct Committee (UCC). The Department of Student Conduct and Complaints works closely with the University Ombudsman and General Counsel, when necessary. Additionally, the department informs and educates the University community through our various programmes and initiatives about the University’s policies, especially those relevant to the office including the Policy on the Student Code of Conduct and the Student Complaints policy.

Mission: The mission of the Office of Student Conduct and Complaints is to uphold the University’s policies. In addition to addressing matters of student conduct, we are committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for the entire UB community. It is our mission to offer support where needed as well as provide fair, ethical, balanced and appropriate resolutions to matters regarding student conduct, complaints, and concerns.

Vision: The vision for the Office of Student Conduct and Complaints is to serve as the primary resource for addressing matters of student conduct and concerns. When dealing with matters concerning students, there are certain processes we consistently adhere to, to showcase that we have an unwavering commitment to resolving their issues in a manner that is fair and beneficial to all parties involved. Above all, maintaining confidentiality and open communication with our clients is of the utmost importance when resolving any matter that is presented to our office.
