Appointment of Dean, Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning

University of The Bahamas (UB) announces the appointment of Dr. Tyler Adams as Dean, Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning (CELEARN).
In his role as Dean of CELEARN, Dr. Adams will be responsible for expanding the University’s non-credit programmes for adults, including new certificate and professional development courses and programmes, and will work in concert with the other academic deans to offer a variety of CELEARN programmes to the Family Islands.
In conjunction with key stakeholders, the Dean of CELEARN will formulate long- and short-range goals for the Centre, including the review and implementation of a strategic plan; establish a process for enrollment management; develop and actively guide the implementation of a recruitment plan; and monitor student retention and success in academic enhancement programmes. He will also liaise and collaborate with community groups, government departments, local agencies, industry and private sector stakeholders to develop and implement programmes that meet their employment and training needs and develop and maintain partnerships with international institutions and professional bodies to provide international certifications.
Courses and programmes offered through CELEARN include those that afford students opportunities to qualify for entry into academic degree programmes and those designed to meet the growing demand for competence in specific fields.
Prior to his appointment as Dean of CELEARN, Dr. Adams served as a Distinguished Professor at the Monterrey Institute of Technology in Mexico City, Mexico. He has also served as Professor of Mass Communication at the Gulf University for Science & Technology in Kuwait City, Kuwait and Vice Dean at the University of Business & Technology in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Additionally, Dr. Adams taught in Pescara, Italy, as Da Vinci Fellow of Strategic Communication at D’Annunzio University. During his appointment in Central Asia for the U.S. Department of State as a CIES Fulbright Senior Specialist, he was appointed Vice President of Academic Affairs at the Kazakhstan Institute of Management, Economics, and Strategic Research.
Educated at Florida State University (Ph.D. in Communication & Educational Leadership; M.S. in Communication Theory) and the University of Florida (B.A. in Communication Studies), Dr. Adams is considered an organizational specialist. He spends his free time reading and writing books, textbooks, academic journal articles, and editorials as well as advising social justice programmes.
