Acting Director of Communications Mrs. Astranique Bowe

Nassau, THE BAHAMAS – University of The Bahamas (UB) announces the appointment of Mrs. Astranique Bowe as Acting Director of Communications in the Office of University Relations (OUR).

As Acting Director of Communications, Mrs. Bowe reports to the Assistant Vice President of University Relations and is responsible for executing and managing integrated corporate communications, marketing and public relations strategies to increase the profile of the University nationally and internationally. Collaborating with internal stakeholders, she will plan and coordinate University publications, collaterals and messaging inclusive of digital newsletters, audio and video content, supplements and reports. She will also serve as a primary liaison with external media partners. Additionally, the Director of Communications manages service provision through the Office of University Relations and supervises communications staff.

Mrs. Bowe previously served as the Assistant Director of External Communications and Communications Liaison, both in the Office of University Relations. OUR provides strategic support in fulfilment of the University’s mission and mandate.

A certified educator, Mrs. Bowe began her professional career as an English Language, literature and Spanish teacher at Queen’s College High School. She also taught at St. Augustine’s College and St. Andrew’s School. She launched her media career at Jones Communication Network as a TV talk show host and a radio personality on Love 97.5FM. Marrying her passion for education and media, she subsequently served as Director of Communications at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology where she conceptualized and managed communication strategies for the then Minister of Education, the Director of Education and the Permanent Secretary.

Mrs. Bowe attended Centro de Idiomas at Universidad de Guanajuato in Guanajuato, Mexico and Campbell University as a public relations major and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Florida International University. She has the distinction of being the first Bahamian to attend the International School of Communication in London, England where she obtained a post-graduate certificate in Intensive Communications and Public Relations.
